TEMPLE, TEXAS (AP) - Gov. Rick Perry today visited with wounded victims from the Fort Hood shooting and said his conversations with the soldiers were "humbling."
Perry was at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, where 10 wounded victims were taken following Thursday's shooting spree -- allegedly by an officer. Four have been discharged.
The suspect -- who was wounded by police -- remains hospitalized and in custody in San Antonio.
Perry says there's no telling how many lives the soldiers saved because of their "selfless and purposeful actions."
Perry also praised the community's response, saying people stood in line for hours to give blood.
Perry, who's a former Air Force pilot, said the wounded soldiers kept telling him it was their honor to be able to serve their country.
