AUSTIN (KXAN) - Kay Bailey Hutchison, a 17-year veteran of the U.S. Senate, wants to come home now and complete her political career as Texas' next governor.

Hutchison said Rick Perry's 10 years in office are enough, and that arrogance and cronyism begins to creep into the government. Hutchison is especially critical of Governor Perry’s toll road plans, and the management of TxDot, the Texas Department of Transportation.

She is calling for property tax appraisal reform, in order to bring relief to homeowners. The 66 year old Hutchison, who has never received less than 60 percent of the vote in her senate races, is trailing Perry in the polls, but insists that win or lose the GOP primary, she will resign her senate seat regardless.
