(NBC) - Less sleep could eventually lead to dementia and Parkinson's disease, according to medical experts.

A Mayo Clinic study looked at people who had a sleep behavior disorder for at least 15 years before developing Parkinson's disease or dementia decades later.

The time between the start of the sleep disorder and the onset of symptoms averaged 25 years but ranged as long as 50 years.
