TAYLOR, Texas (KXAN) - Scott & White Healthcare has finalized an agreement to merge with Johns Community Hospital in Taylor, a 25-bed acute care hospital.
"This merger is a unique opportunity for our city,” said Clark Jackson, president of the Johns Community Hospital board. “Taylor and our surrounding communities will still have a familiar hospital which they have known and trusted for many years, now under the guidance of Scott & White Healthcare which is respected nationwide.”
The facility’s new name became Scott & White Hospital - Taylor as of Wednesday.
"With this merger, Scott & White has the opportunity to further its commitment to the residents of Taylor and the surrounding communities, while positioning the facility as an asset for the community and to serve more patients," said Alfred B. Knight , CEO and president of Scott & White Healthcare.
More than 120 Scott & White physicians in Williamson County provide care to approximately 46,000 residents. The Scott & White clinic has served Taylor and the surrounding community for 24 years.
Knight said that as the population of Williamson County continues to grow, Scott & White will grow along with it to meet the community's needs.
“Johns is a long-standing, respected member of the Taylor community, and merging with them will allow us to continue our commitment to this region," said Ernie Bovio, CEO of Scott & White Healthcare- Round Rock .
Knight said the partnership allows residents to seek care within a nationally renowned, fully integrated health care system and is based on strong, mutual respect.
