(NBC) - The chili peppers that set your mouth on fire may also help lower blood pressure.

Chinese researchers found capsaicin, the compound that gives peppers their heat, helps blood vessels relax in rats with hypertension.

Researchers said human testing still needs to be done and that it's unclear how many chili peppers you'd have to eat to maintain low blood pressure.
