AUSTIN (KXAN) - With South by Southwest right around the corner, the Austin Diagnostic Clinic explores ways to prioritize health during the festival.

The event's large crowds can encourage germ spreading and perpetuate illness. Dr. Adriana Le recommends that those with flu-like symptoms avoid the week's attractions as to not infect others.

Hearing damage may also pose a concern during loud concerts. If the music playing is so loud that it inhibits normal conversation, ear plugs may provide protection and relief.

To prepare for the event, proper hydration and hand sanitizer can help maintain good health.
