AUSTIN (KXAN) - Vivek Mahendru is a board certified anesthesiologist with three additional fellowships in pain management, including one of these being done at the prestigious Harvard Medical School in Boston.
Dr. Mahendru said the most common complaint among his patients is back pain. He said everyday stresses can lead to pain but sometimes that pain can be acute that eventually resolves itself if adults try strectching, swimming yoga and massages.
“Chronic pain can last for three to six months,” said Mahendru. “If the pain persist, it’s time to call a doctor.
“We take care of a lot of moms in our practice with all kinds of painful disorders,” he added. “Many moms experience back pain from wearing high heels.”
Dr. Mahendru suggests moms switch from high heels to low heels or wear sneakers. In addition, Mahendru says moms shouldn’t dangle their feet but should swim, stretch, and bend at the waist and not the knee to relieve back pain.
Dr. Mahendru operates four Pain Specialist of Austin locations.
