AUSTIN (KXAN) - The surface, distance and your arch all come into play when picking out the right running shoe.

According to podiatrist, Dr. Ana Urkalo, a lot depends on your foot type and expectations.

Blisters, shin splints and tendonitis can all be caused by not wearing the right shoe. Sometimes these injuries can even keep you off the trail, waiting for recovery.
