Austin (KXAN) - You can hear it -- coughing.  From allergies to respiratory illnesses, things are causing Central Texans to cough, and they just cannot seem to stop.

At Seton Medical Center Williamson, Dr. Brian Aldred says physicians there are treating a lot of children with respiratory illnesses.  Most of the illnesses are caused by viruses.  One virus called respiratory syncytial virus or RSV can be especially dangerous in very young infants.

At the Heart Hospital of Austin, doctors are seeing a high number of pneumonia cases as well as viruses, allergies and chest pain.

Out west of Austin in Bee Cave, Dr. Edward Lee at St. David's Emergency Center has seen a spike in bronchitis and pneumonia.

At Scott and White Healthcare in Round Rock, Dr. Sean Coughlin says patients are having trouble with  allergies and sinusitis.
