How to get KBVO on your TV
Do you have cable?
Do you have cable you plug right into the wall (no cable box)?
Do you have a digital TV that is about four years old or newer?
If you answered yes to these questions, then you can get KBVO DT!
All you need to do is "re-scan" your television. This is also called the Channel Auto Scan or Channel Set Up and can be found under "Menu" on most TV sets - although each is different, so consult your user guide or cable company for help if you get stuck.
Then, your TV will update and add Austin's newest TV station - KBVO!
Here is another instructional:
Can I receive KBVO without a Time Warner digital cable box?
Yes, if you have
an HD or SD digital television and basic Time Warner cable service, you can receive not only KBVO - but also all local Austin channels - in digital SD or HD. Time Warner is required by law to offer local TV station digital signals to ALL customers, regardless of whether you pay a monthly fee for a digital cable box or not.
To receive these free digital channels you must already have a digital TV with a digital antenna.
Step 1: Feed TW cable into your TV
Simply screw the cable into the "ANTENNA IN" connector on your TV
Step 2: Scan for channels on Time Warner Cable
In the TV Setup Menu there is an option to scan for channels. First, make sure you have selected the Antenna input to be "Cable" rather than "Antenna" ("Antenna" is for an off-air antenna). Next, do a channel scan. This will program both analog and digital channels and may take as long a 15 minutes, but when complete you will have all the standard analog cable channels plus the local digital channels. Below is a breakdown of where local channels can be found on Time Warner in both analog and SD.
