AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Wheeler Brothers , three brothers and two friends who went to school in Louisiana have made their way into the Austin music scene and their taking it by storm.

The five-piece independent folk-rock band describes their music as a mix between the indie vibe of Austin with the twang of Texas folk.

Brothers Nolan, Tyler and Patrick Wheeler met band member Danny Matthews at LSU where they spent much of their time playing music together. The band added lifelong friend and singer/songwriter A.J. Molyneaux after moving to Austin.

Each member brings his own ideas and sounds to the group, with styles blending indie rock, blues and folk. When asked by KXAN Anchor Catenya McHenry when they last fought, the band jokingly said, “It’s been at least a week.”

In a live performance on KXAN Sunday the bands laid back style kicked in when they kicked off their flip flops, playing the acoustic set barefoot.

Wheeler Brothers’ first LP is slated for release prior to their Summer 2011 tour.
