AUSTIN (KXAN) - Rod is a young Border Collie and Labrador mix that is looking for a home. He is extremely energetic and friendly, so an active family would be a perfect match. Rod has all of his shots.

The Town Lake Animal Shelter emphasizes the importance of keeping your pet up-to-date on their shots. The number one best thing you can do to take care of your pet is providing them with regular veterinary care including consistent vaccinations. Many owners are unable to provide their pets with all of the shots needed, but it is important to at least provide them with a rabies vaccination. Owners can bring their cats and dogs to the Montopolis Recreation Center on February 28 for rabies shots between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Town Lake Animal Center is the largest animal shelter in Central Texas, providing shelter to more than 23,000 animals each year and animal control services to all of Austin and Travis County. A division of the Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department, the shelter is an open-intake facility - no animal will be turned away.

Shelter Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday - Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Closed City Holidays
Stray or unwanted animals can be safely dropped off at the shelter before or after hours in one of our overnight holding pens.
