GHENT, Belgium (NBC/EBU) - A Dutch university working with a research lab said Tuesday it has made a huge breakthrough that can affect the way people receive information.
Scientists at the University of Ghent and IMEC labs said they can project words and images onto a contact lens with a mini-LCD display.
Words as small as text messages could be shown on the lens, but don't look for getting texts and Tweets on your contacts anytime soon.
One of the lead researchers said it will probably take three- to five years before the findings will be adapted in commercial ways.
First priority he said will be for medical uses for people with damaged retinas.
