Police: Parents took daughter to fight

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (CNN/WSB) - Two Georgia parents are facing charges after police said a video posted online shows them bringing their daughter to a fight at her bus stop.

The video shows students throwing punches last Monday at their bus stop on Post Oak Drive in DeKalb County.

"Nobody better try to [expletive] jump in neither," said one man in the video.

Witnesses said the man telling no one to jump in is the father of one of the girls.

The video shows that seventh-grader getting out of her parents' van at the bus stop, and she immediately starts fighting another student.

"It just broke my heart to know that parents would allow this to happen and for my child to be there with nobody,” said mother Quateka Durden.

Durden's 14-year-old daughter, Quinnaya, is the other girl in the video. According to Quinnaya, the other girl's parents picked her up from school with the sole purpose of taking her there to fight at the bus stop.

"They followed the bus,” said Quinnaya. “We seen them behind the bus"

Police charged those parents, Timothy Taylor and Shequita Cade, for their alleged involvement in the fight. At one point, a voice that is allegedly Taylor's can be heard encouraging his daughter to hit Durden as the two struggle on the ground.

"You know where to hit her at,” said a man's voice on the video.

"The father is there saying, ‘Nobody touch my child,’” said Durden. “But my child is on the ground pleading for someone to get her off of her."

No one answered when WSB knocked on Taylor's door Friday.

In the video, a neighbor eventually breaks up the fight as the other teen heads to the car with her parents.

"My child could have died,” said Durden. “She could have hit the concrete the wrong way. Their child could have died. And then who's charged with the murder?"

Police charged the parents with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They also charged the father with battery.

They initially told police they had picked up their daughter because she was being bullied by another teen.
