OFF MAUI, Hawaii (CNN) - An Arizona couple's canoe ride off Maui turned into a trip they will never forget.

Laurent Lebihan, his girlfriend and a couple of friends paddled a few hundred yards off shore when suddenly, a humpback whale came out of nowhere and bumped into their canoe.

The canoers say the whale did not appear to be injured as it swam off.
