AUSTIN (KXAN) - Girl Guitar is used to helping others realize their dreams and goals in music. However, this year, they took that mission to a new level.

For the 2010, Girl Guitar put together a calendar of girl musicians from around Austin to help fundraise for Health Alliance for Austin Musicians.

"The calendar idea was born this summer over a couple of beers, and we got this idea to raise money for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians," said Mandy Rowden with Girl Guitar. "[HAAM] is a really great organization that allows degenerate musicians - like myself - to have health coverage, so we're all really grateful for it here. The calendar seemed like a fun way to bring all the women of Girl Guitar together."

Watch below to see what the calendar looks like and to watch a full interview with Rowden:

Volunteer photographers took the photos in the calendar.

"They all just donated their time and I really appreciate them," said Rowden.

She expects the calendar to really help out HAAM.

"We've already sold tons of them and we plan on selling a whole bunch more," said Rowden.

The calendars are $15 a piece and after the costs of printing, all the proceeds are going to HAAM. You can order the calendars online.
