AUSTIN (KXAN) - SWAGG, the smartphone app that will allow users to give gifts, sponsored a VIP lounge at Moonshine Patio Bar and Grill for SXSW musicians to hangout and grab some grub for three days.
The SWAGG Cafe offers complimentary drinks, massages and an innovative way to send people an electronic message.
"If you want to come in and record yourself sending a shout out to your friends back home, telling them how you're doing in Ausitn, we're going to send your friends a video of you and a $10 gift card that will be redeemed online," said Mel Clements with SWAGG.
It is a process a new iPhone app will be able to do around wintertime called SWAGG. Company representatives said the app will make buying gift cards much easier.
"If you've ever had a gift card and had to go to a store to buy a piece of plastic and go through the whole rigamarole, now [during] the holiday season, you'll be able to do that from your mobile phone," said Clements.
The SWAGG app will also allow customers to find discounts from their favorite stores and redeem the deals on their mobile phones.
"All my memberships, loyalty cards, discount cards, airline miles, hotel clubs, all of those things, all of that plastic that makes my wallet really really fat starts going into my phone now," said Clements.
SWAGG should be available in the winter of 2010 on iPhones.
The SWAGG Cafe will be open Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Moonshine. Last year, Moonshine hosted a similar event called Carrera Cafe.
