AUSTIN (KXAN) - Daphne Willis previewed some of what's to come during her stay in the Texas capital for SXSW this year.

Willis has been compared to several music artists, and some have even referred to her as the "female Jack Johnson."

The 23-year-old Chicagoan's music has also been said to have some "rock sensibility" to it, despite having grabbed her acoustic guitar just three years ago.

Since she took the stage for the first time, Willis' bio page said she has grown into a "self-assured, marvelously expressive artist with a bracingly seductive sound."

Willis has several dates set during her SXSW stint in Austin:

  • March 17: The Belmont, 9:30 pm (Manic Fest Destiny)
  • March 18: The Trophy Room, 2:45 pm (JBTV Presents SXChicago)
  • March 19: The Belmont, 12:00 pm (Vanguard Records/Sugar Hill Records/Paste Magazine Day Party)
