AUSTIN (KXAN) - Lot of great bands played Sunday night in Austin to continue the fun and festivities after the Formula One race was over. The Bob Bullock Museum was the site of the “Official After Party,” as the crowd wound down after a long race weekend.

Fitz and the Tantrums, and Austin's own Ghostland Observatory are headlining the night's festivities.

People will say this weekend was about so much more than the race itself.

"You can come to some of these events," said one woman. "It's a chance to meet other people. I think it's really cool."

A woman from Vancouver was curious about the city.

"We'll see what Austin has to offer," she said. What we're used to in Vancouver -- we'll see what Austin has to offer."

The downtown events have given out-of-town visitors a real taste of Austin's music scene, and also the kind of nightlife the city has to offer.

"I went to Formula 1 in Monaco years ago, and I can't believe it's here now," said another woman, an out-of-town visitor.

Austin Fan Fest was three days of exhibits, food, music all designed to give residents and out-of-town visitors a taste of hospitality tied into the Formula One race at the new Circuit of The Americas, where three days of practice, qualifying and the main races were held.

Sunday night's action was a great way to let loose before heading home.

Across downtown at ACL Live at the Moody Theater , the Wallflowers were on stage -- another big name to give fans a reason why they'll want to return for next year's race weekend.
