Taking a look at ATX's live music scene

AUSTIN (KXAN) - A documentary this weekend looks at the state of our live music scene.

It's called "Echotone."

The filmmakers were inspired to make the film after hearing about Austin's noise ordinance and musician's stories of struggling to make ends meet.

The documentary highlights three Austin musicians through both their music and their day jobs, such as Black Joe Lewis.

"By night, he's a sole revivalist. He gets people dancing and packs clubs. And by day, he delivers fish because he can't make money off of his music."

"Echotone" screens Satruday at the Alamo Ritz at 1 p.m. and Tuesday at 10 p.m. at the Bob Bullock Theatre.
