AUSTIN (KXAN) - Fresh off a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, The Lumineers will make an appearance in Austin at the new Tower Amphitheater at Circuit of The Americas, it was announced this week.
The Lumineers performed at Austin City Limits Music Festival in October, so they're no stranger to the Live Music Capital of the World stages.
Tickets went on sale Friday for the Friday, April 26 performance. Ticket prices range from $21.50 to $41.50 and are available via Ticketmaster.com .
In 2011, a self-recorded EP led to a self-booked tour, and before long The Lumineers started attracting devout fans, first across the Western U.S., then in their East Coast stomping grounds. Fans are drawn by songs like “Ho Hey” and “Stubborn Love,” Americana-inflected barnburners. They’re drawn by songs like “Slow it Down” and “Dead Sea,” slow, sultry ballads that suggest the raw revelations of Jeff Buckley and Ryan Adams.
Come May 2, longtime favorite Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band , along with the renowned Jackson Browne, will take the stage at the Tower Amphitheater. Buffett's performance is part of the "Songs from St. Somewhere" Tour 2013. At age 66, the musician still draws huge crowds.
Browne, 64, last played at Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater in May 2011.
Tickets go on sale Saturday for the May concert date. There is an eight-ticket purchase limit per customer.
“It is a true privilege to be able to present Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band along with acclaimed artist Jackson Browne and his band on the same stage, on the same night. I promise this will be a very special evening for all music fans and will go down as one of the most memorable concerts in Austin’s rich music history," said Bob Roux, president of Live Nation/North American Concerts.
“Seeing Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band and Jackson Browne and his band under the stars will be an epic night," said Charles Attal, principal of C3 Presents.
Parking lots at CoTA will open for tailgate parties starting Wednesday, May 1 at 12 noon. Parking lot times, pricing, and policies are available on the venue website at www.toweramphitheater.com or by phone at 800-745-3000.
Buffett will be soon record a new album, tentatively titled "Songs from St Somewhere," to be released on Mailboat Records.
Browne's 2013 tour began Friday in Las Vegas, reaches into Dallas after his Austin appearance, then on to California, Utah, Colorado, places in the Midwest and the East Coast. It ends in July in Atlantic City, N.J.
Browne is part of a group of musicians that offer guitar instruction an iPad app called "The Music Path."
Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He was honored with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2007. Beyond his music, he is known for his advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights, and arts education.
The Tower Ampitheater will host its first concert on April 5 with headliner Kenny Chesney. Other scheduled concerts include Zac Brown Band on April 18, and The Avett Brothers on May 31.
