AUSTIN (KXAN) - Johnny Depp receives "Extraordinary Contribution to Film - Acting" Award at the annual Austin Film Festival.
Depp, who is in town promoting his new film The Rum Diary, was on hand to accept the award.
Other award recipients are Extraordinary Contribution to Filmmaking Awardee John Lasseter (Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios) and Outstanding Television Writer Awardee Hart Hanson (creator/writer/executive producer of "Bones," "The Finder").
This is the first year for the award. The Austin Film Festival is going on around Austin until October 27.
