AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Weekend Gardener takes a slightly different approach to this week's segment and explores the inner workings of local farming.
John Dromgoole interviews an area farmer, Stephanie Scherzer, to explain how food gets distributed throughout the community.
Scherzer's business, Farmhouse Delivery , collaborates with other small farms to create a more convenient produce delivery system. The set up eliminates the need to visit a farmers market for fresh vegetables and delivers food directly to homes.
Local farms are currently putting out collard greens, kale, beets, green onions, carrots and head lettuce. In coming weeks, snow peas, english peas, asparagus and strawberries should become available.
