AUSTIN (KXAN) - Organizers of the annual Fun Fun Fun Fest announced Tuesday that this year's festivities reached another record-breaking year, adding over $27 million in tourism dollars to Austin's economy.
The festival had more than 18,000 fans daily attend and more than 55,000 total for the entire event, which is a 17 percent increase from last year. Fun Fun Fun Fest also had a spike in new jobs, from 700 last year to 1,100 jobs this year.
“It’s rewarding to see our festival continue to grow while still staying intimate and fun” said James Moody, principal at Transmission Events. “Not only are we impacting our local economy and community more, we are creatively growing as well, by adding more comedy, action sports, and things like our beloved Taco Cannon.”
“I am so proud of James Moody and all the folks at Transmission for putting on their most successful Fun Fun Fun Fest yet,” said Mayor Lee Leffingwell. “They are an excellent community partner and we look forward to having the Fest as a cultural and live music staple in Austin for years to come.”
Fun Fun Fun Fest has seen a grown in attendance since its inception in 2006. The festival caters to an array of music lovers by having performances by Indie, hip hop, folk, comedy, punk and metal groups.
Fun Fun Fun Fest was founded in 2006 and is an independent genre-based festival.
