AUSTIN (KXAN) - With a new brewmaster in charge at Uncle Billy's Brew & Que of Austin, the restaurant will hold a dinner that brings together beers and perfect food.
The Brewers Dinner on Nov. 4 will feature a five-course meal paired with the right beer. The dinner will take place at the restaurant's Barton Springs Road location.

On Thursday, Chef Kevin Whitton and General Manager Richard Everitt visited KXAN to create one part of that meal.
Spinach and Frise Salad
Place bacon in a medium sauce pan on medium/high heat. Once bacon begins to cook and render fat,
place shallots in pan with bacon and caramelize shallots. In a separate bowl combine olive oil, cider vinegar, salt, and pepper and whisk together. Remove bacon from pan and chop, then place bacon back in pan and toss in bacon fat and shallots. Add bacon, shallots, and bacon fat to oil, vinegar, salt, and black pepper, then whisk together and serve immediately.
