John Renaud has accomplished a great deal in a short time. Only 23, this fashion phenom worked on the stage costumes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the illustruous Peaches herself.
So how did local promotional group Fashion Leak score him for a local show?
Tiffany Diane, communications director, answers: “I actually met him through one of my friends at a party.”
Renaud showed Diane photographs of his latest works; and following her recommendation, the group decided an exhibition bragging about this local talent was in order.
Renaud possesses a charm and wit that can best be expressed by allowing him to speak for himself:
So far, Fashion Leak has focused specifically on designers with a Texas connection. Renaud was born in Midland. Other luminaries featured by Fashion Leak - Boudoir Queen and I Love Factory - have ties to the Lone Star State. All three designers were featured at the November 7th Fashion Leak showcase presented at Buy Definition on South Congress.
“I feel like the local scene is kind of hidden a bit. And that’s where we come into play,” says creative director Jacqueline Fernandez
Fashion Leak is just getting started. Only four months old, the
small but reputable organization has spotlighted three designers,
all leading up to a three-day fashion event at the end of the year.
