AUSTIN (KXAN) - With the announcement of Oscar nominations set for Tuesday, a film with Austin connections is noted to be on the shortlist for Best Foreign Language Films.

"Bullhead," a movie owned by Drafthouse Films , is one of nine films remaining of 63 submitted for the award.

Drafthouse Films bought the Belgian film after it won the audience award at Austin's Fantastic Fest in 2011. Belgium then picked it as its film submission for the international film category.

The field will be cut to five foreign films nominated for the Oscar at the 84th Academy Awards , set for Sunday, Feb. 26.

The Alamo Drafhouse will hold two special screenings of "Bullhead" this weekend. The Michael Roskam debut movie is about a domineering cattle farmer -- Matthias Schoenaerts in an award-winning , ferocious breakout performance -- engaged in a shady deal with a mafioso meat trader. Tickets are available online.

The "Phase I" committee, made of several hundred Los Angeles-based voting Academy® members, screened the 63 foreign language submissions from mid-October to Jan. 13. The group's top six choices, plus three additional selections voted by Breaking Bad producer Mark Johnson's Foreign Language Executive Committee, constituted the official short list.
