LAKE TRAVIS, Texas (KXAN) - AquaPalooza organizers confirmed country music megastar Brad Paisley will be headlining the floating concert festival at Lake Travis on July 10.
Sea Ray Boats made the announcement early Friday morning, saying Paisley will be "performing in front of a crowd of thousands of concert-goers on boats."
"AquaPalooza has become synonymous with great music and great times on the water," said Rob Noyes, vice president of marketing for Sea Ray. "We're very excited to have a performer of Brad Paisley's caliber headlining this year's Signature Event."
With his new single "Water" and a new tour called the H2O World Tour , organizers said it makes sense that Paisley should headline this year's AquaPalooza.
Paisley is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and entertainer, which has earned him three Grammy Awards, 12 Academy of Country Music Awards and 13 Country Music Association Awards. He has released eight critically acclaimed studio albums and has accumulated sales of more than 10 million units.
A free event where your boat is your ticket, organizers said there will be no land access to AquaPalooza.
Organizers recently changed the date of the upcoming Lake Travis from the end of the month to July 4 through July 10.
Past locations for the event across the U.S. have included major names like Alan Jackson and Taylor Swift.
The concert event date on July 10 is set to run from noon to 7:30 p.m. at The Reserve at Lake Travis , which is between Point Venture and Briarcliff. Several area chambers of commerce are partnering with organizers to sell $40 wristbands online for associated events throughout that week, including cover charges and discounts at many local businesses.
Organizers have also indicated the event will be modeled after the Austin Aqua Festival , a 10-day concert series that ran from 1962-1998 on Lady Bird Lake, then later Town Lake. Many consider the current Austin City Limits Music Festival the successor of Aqua Fest, which had several popular acts like Dolly Parton over the years. Financial woes eventually led to the downfall of Aqua Fest in the 90s.
In 2009, the fourth annual AquaPalooza attracted approximately 15,000 boats and 84,000 guests to 123 events from New York to California, and from Austria to Australia. Since its inception in 2006, organizers said the multilocation celebration has grown bigger each year.
