NEW YORK (KXAN) - Wednesday morning came early for Bobby Bones in New York, ready to don his "A" suit and red tie for his national appearance on the " LIVE! with Regis & Kelly " show.

Bones was scheduled to be co-host for the day with Kelly Ripa after being voted one of the Top 5 to take Regis Philbin's place for a day while he is on vacation in a nationwide contest.

It was the biggest gig of Bones' life, to take that seat next to Ripa. He said he was anxious and didn't sleep much Tuesday night.

"I wouldn't say [I'm] nervous. I'm anxious. It's kind of been a long build-up. I'm really excited to get going today," said Bones from the hotel room via Skye, on-air with KXAN Austin News Today.

KXAN's Austin New Today News Anchor Chris Willis made the trip, as did KXAN photographer Thomas Costley, to share the adventure with the Austin audience.

In addition, staff and friends from 96.7 KISS-FM, where Bones is a DJ, flew to New York to support their guy.

Watch the two videos attached here to see the full interviews with Bones and Willis, from the hotel, as the anchor gives the DJ advice.
