AUSTIN (KXAN) - Celebrity stylist Ron King has some excellent tips to help you get a flawless summertime pedicure.

For those who do not get a pedicure often, it can be a confusing process to find the right place with the right price. Ron’s advises you to look for a nail salon that offers a manicure and pedicure for under $50 for both.

When looking for the right nail salon, it is very important to keep safety in mind.

Here are Ron’s tips for getting a safe “mani and pedi”:
-Avoid spa chairs with jet baths. Look for porcelain or stainless steel basins instead.
-If you must get acrylics, wear a mask to avoid inhaling harmful chemicals.
-Bring your own tools (file, buffer, toe separator) and make sure the blue Barbicide cleaning solution is clear, not cloudy.
-Tools sterilized in a UV light sanitizer must be laid flat and exposed to the light for 25 minutes, monitored by a timer.
-Look for salons that use an autoclave, a sterilization system used in the dentist's office.

So before you run out to spruce up your nails, make sure the salon maintains a safe environment while offering a fair price.
