AUSTIN (KXAN) - One of the most challenging units in the army are the bomb disposal squads.
Friday in Austin a new movie opens that gives a fictional, yet realistic look at what it's like to walk in their shoes.

The movie is called "The Hurt Locker" and it takes place during 2004 in Baghdad.

It's based on screenwriter Mark Boal's experience being embedded with the troops.

"It has a lot of that realism from what I saw in Bagdad,” said Boal.

Boal and director Kathryn Bigelow were in Austin back in March to screen the movie during South by Southwest.

“In my opinion they have the most dangerous job in the world so you in the audience live their life,” said Kathryn Bigelow, the director of the Hurt Locker.

And the audience will feel like they are on the edge of their seat as they watch long scenes that put viewers in the moment.

“We had multiple cameras, four units, and shooting 360 degrees,” said Bigelow.

The Hurt Locker is rated R.  It's showing at the Regal Arbor Cinema.
