ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) - The eldest brother of shooting suspect Kenneth Davis is pleading with his younger brother to turn himself in to authorities.

Davis, 44, comes from a large family, the 16th out of 17 children. Most of his siblings and their extended families still live in the Austin area. This afternoon, Davis' eldest brother Butch, 60, pleaded with his brother, who is accused of shooting both his ex-girlfirend and a Round Rock police officer early Friday morning.

"Turn yourself in," urged Butch Davis.

The Davis family has gathered to await news of their younger brother.

A trio of law enforcement agencies are expanding their search into the woods, looking for Davis. Authorities said  Davis is armed with a .22-caliber handgun after he abandoned his blue 2002 Chevy Silverado pickup truck and fled into the woods. Officials found the truck around 9:30 a.m. Friday, two blocks from a home where they said Davis shot a Round Rock police officer in the back of his shoulder. The home, according to relatives, is the ex-girlfriend's family home.

Round Rock police said they arrested Davis just last week on charges of domestic violence and found him hiding under his tools in his truck when he tried to hide from them. Davis works for a local company as an electrician, said his brother.

Advising people that Davis is extremely armed and dangerous, authorities are looking to the public for help in finding him.

"Any information that can lead to us capturing him, it will take anything," said spokesman Eric Poteet with the Round Rock Police Department. "But we want to get this guy locked up and locked up quick."

Authorities blocked off streets in the Greenslopes Neighborhood for about five hours early Friday morning after they said Davis was barricaded inside a home in the 500 block of Meadowcreek Circle

The incident started with Texas Department of Public Safety troopers assisting on an assault report in the area of RM 620 and SH 45 around 10:30 p.m. Thursday when a 911 caller reported an apparent disturbance between two motorists.

DPS state troopers later received a second call from a female reporting she was assaulted by a former boyfriend. Williamson County sheriff's deputies met the woman and conducted the initial domestic violence investigation. Troopers were escorting the woman back to her home on Meadowcreek Circle around 2 a.m. Friday when they reported shots fired from inside.

The Round Rock Police Department responded immediately, and one officer was shot in the back of the shoulder. However, his protective armor deflected the bullet, and he was not seriously hurt.

Davis' ex-girlfriend was taken to the hospital and released. Authorities said she remains in a secure location.

Investigators are not sure about the exact nature of her relationship to Davis, but they said they believe the two were in an on-again, off-again romance.

Police blocked off the area to search each house and scour the nearby wooded area. Authorities also used "reverse-911" calls to warn neighbors to stay inside.

"My mom was scared, and my dad was just worried about us, the family right here," said neighbor Aaron Hernandez.

"It's not a good feeling, but, you know, hopefully he'll get caught and the neighborhood will be safe," said neighbor Johnny Joe Torres.

They stopped and searched any cars that did try to leave the area but found no sign of Davis or the blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck officials said he was in.

RRPD Public Information Officer Eric Poteet said Davis likely faces at least two counts of attempted capital murder.

Meanwhile, a team of Round Rock police officers, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and investigators and Williamson County sheriff's deputies continue to employ all their available resources to locate Davis.
