AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Wildflower Center's Tree Festival is the first major festival at the Mollie Steves Zachry Texas Arboretum and intended to showcase the native trees and shrubs of Texas.
The event will include activities fro both children and adults, and it will be focused on trees. And, because it is January, admission is free for all activities. Children will learn how to count tree rings, major paper tree cookies, learn about bird nests and wildfire prevention.
Artist Yan Lee will be on site to sell his pen-and-ink drawings of famous and historical American trees. And a talk and walk has been scheduled with staff and visitors to take about tree identification and tree cair. At 3 p.m. Chris Dolan of the City of Austin will be discussing oak wilt.
