AUSTIN (KXAN) - It is awards season in Hollywood & that translates to a quiet time at the box office with fewer notable releases. But since we just kicked of 2013, I’m thinking we should take a sneak peek at what to expect between now & the summer season!

"Texas Chainsaw 3D" - Lions Gate
A chainsaw maniac is on the loose in "Texas Chainsaw 3D." This week's only major release continues the story of the 1974 horror classic with a deranged killer using power tools to hunt young people.

"Gangster Squad" - Warner Bros
Next week, it's old-time cops and robbers in "Gangster Squad." Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin go up against a mob boss played by Sean Penn.

"Snitch" - Summit Entertainment
Waging a war with organized crime next month is Dwayne Johnson in "Snitch."

"The Last Stand" - Lionsgate
Look for Hollywood’s old dogs to perform familiar tricks. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a small town sheriff standing between a heavily-armed fugitive and the Mexican border in "The Last Stand."

"Bullet to the Head" - Warner Bros.
Sylvester Stallone plays a hit man with revenge in his sights in the February release "Bullet to the Head."

"A Good Day to Die Hard - 20th Century Fox
And on Valentine’s Day, there's no love lost when Bruce Willis makes a mess of Moscow in "A Good Day to Die Hard."

"Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters - Paramount
Classic tales continue their monster metamorphoses. Jeremy Renner leaves a trail of breadcrumbs and blood in "hansel and gretel: witch hunters."

"Jack and the Giant Slayer" - Warner Bros.
In March, magic beans lead to a war against a race of overgrown ogres in "Jack the Giant Slayer."

"Warm Bodies" - Summit Entertainment
And a zombie tracker finds love at first bite in the undead romance "Warm Bodies.".

"Identity Thief - Universal
Looking for laughs? February finds Melissa McCarthy manhandling Jason Bateman in "Identity Thief."

"The Heat" - 20th Century
She's paired with Sandra Bullock in April as a foul-mouthed cop in "The Heat."

"Admission" - Focus Features
Comedy queen Tina Fey plays a straight-laced college recruiter in "Admission."

"The Incredible Burt Wonderston" - Warner Bros.
And Steve Carrell is set to amaze audiences as "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone" in mid-March.

Look for Tyler Perry's next project that same month with "Confessions of a Marriage Counselor."

Prolific Proseman Nicholas Sparks cranks-out his next southern-fried romance in "Safe Haven."

And a pre-toto James Franco discovers the emerald city in "Oz the Great and Powerful."
