Week 2: List of fire benefit events

AUSTIN (KXAN) - It was a week of tragedy for many, but a week of community at the same time as wildfires raged in Bastrop, and also burned homes in Steiner Ranch in Austin, in Leander and Spicewood.

Thousands of Central Texas residents have come together in many ways to support those whose homes were destroyed by raging flames. Donations of goods and money have flowed to help those replace what has been lost.

Following is a list of benefit events being held this week to raise additional monies and items for fire victims:

 

Thursday, Sept. 15

  •  Pizza Hut restaurants in Central Texas will donate 10 percent of all sales from dine-in, carry-out or delivery orders all day to benefit fire victims.

Friday, Sept. 16

  • Austin City Limits Music Festival will collect donations for Red Cross of Central Texas -- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- the "Do Good" bus will be parked at the Volunteer Headquarters, across from the Barton Springs Road entrance. Festival organizers C3 Presents have pledged to match every dollar raised on Friday. Cash or checks only.

Saturday, Sept. 17

  • Benefit concert for fire victims, firefighters and volunteers -- 9 p.m. until closing (doors open at 8 p.m.) -- cash or gift cards accepted at the door in lieu of cover charge -- Cheatham Street Warehouse , 119 Cheatham St., San Marcos. Donations will go to the Distribution Center for Victims of Bastrop Fires, for use by fire victims and firefighters who are stationed there.

  •  Austin City Limits Music Festival -- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- donations accepted at the Volunteer Headquarters for the Red Cross and Texas Wildfire Relief Fund. Cash or checks only.

Sunday, Sept. 18

  • Concert and Silent Auction -- 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. -- "Stop, Drop, Rock & Roll" fundraiser for musicians affected by the fires -- Red 7 / Beauty Bar, 611 E. 7th St., Austin

  • " Bernie " -- 4 p.m. -- movie premiere and fundraiser for fire victims and firefighters -- Richard Linklater's film starring Jack Black, Matthew McConaughey and Shirley MacLaine was filmed in Bastrop. Event at The Paramount Theater, 713 Congress Ave.

  • Austin City Limits Music Festival -- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- donations accepted at the Volunteer Headquarters for the Red Cross and Texas Wildfire Relief Fund. Cash or checks only.
