The 4th annual Water to Thrive 5k is happening Saturday, September 29th at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

Water to Thrive is a faith-based, non-profit organization headquartered in Austin dedicated to spreading awareness of the global water crisis while raising funds needed to construct water wells for those in desperate need of clean water in rural Africa.

In 2007, a small bible study group in Austin wanted to help address the global water crisis.  The members of the group made a pledge to raise $5,000, which would be enough for one clean water well in Ethiopia.  When the fundraiser was over, they raised enough money for twelve wells.  After the success of the first fund-raiser, Dick Moeller, a member of the group, was inspired to do more and founded Water to Thrive.

They work with individuals, churches, schools, corporations, and anyone all over the U.S. who share their passion to bring safe, clean water to those who need it.  Since their founding, Water to Thrive has funded more than 230 water projects in Ethiopia and Sierra Leone.  This year they are expanding their fundraising efforts across the United States while simultaneously beginning the process of expanding water work into Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya.

Pre-registration for the 5k is now open!  Discounted prices are available through September 1st.  Along with race entry, participants will receive a t-shirt, snacks, drinks, and all kinds of swag.  Register now!
