AUSTIN (KXAN) - Dr. Regina Lawrence, UT professor and Director of the Annette Struass Institute for Civic Engagement, shared with KXAN News Today the importance of getting out your vote.
First Dr. Lawrence reminds voters to check their registration with the Travis County Clerks website .
According to the professor, 15 percent of Americans are now on twitter and it's a major place for their political and public affairs news.
Social media is changing elections. But for most voters they've already decided who's getting their vote.
Dr. Lawrence says debates can help the few undecided voters left.
In Austin November's ballot will be four pages long, which is why Dr. Lawrence stresses feeling informed.
In a survey by the national organization Circle, 20 percent of non-college young people who didn't vote in last years elections, say they choose not to because they didn't think their vote would make a difference.
