AUSTIN (KXAN) - Communities in Schools of Central Texas is hosting the 17th annual "Food for Thought" benefit, featuring exquisite dishes from 22 of Austin's most exclusive restaurants.

This will be the first charity event at the new Circuit of The Americas racetrack on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

In Texas, one in three students drops out of school and the annual Food for Thought benefit raises necessary funds to provide critical dropout prevention services in 54 schools in six Central Texas school districts. These essential services help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life.

Communities in Schools has been recognized as a best practice model by the Texas Education Agency, the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network, and the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.

According to Chief Executive Officer of Communities in Schools, Suki Steinhauser, more than 5,000 children were served last year with 99 percent completing the school year and 88 percent successfully improved their grades, attendance, and/or behavior.

Tickets are still available and may be purchased online at www.ciscentraltexas.org or by phone at 512-464-9762.
