DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas (KXAN) - Student's robots could climb a pole and grab things for points during the Capitol BEST competition.
BEST stands for Boosting Engineering and Science. The teams came from the surrounding counties, including Burnett, Caldwell, Hay, Mila, Travis and Williamson.
Dripping Springs teacher Dana Norman says "Get them excited about science, technology, engineering, math. Show them real world applications of math, science and engineering, sit in class and do the equations. Here do your equations, do your programming and you actually get to see what it does."
Top finishers are now advancing to the regional BEST competition held in Dallas Nov. 3.
In December, middle school teams will compete with robots made out of Lego bricks.
