Nearly one in five Texas residents face hunger, and that is why the Souper Bowl of Caring is on a mission to mobilize youth not only here in Texas, but nationwide and care for those who are hungry and in need. Using the energy and excitement surrounding the Super Bowl, the Souper Bowl of Caring is able to transform this time into the nation's largest celebration of giving.
In 2012, groups around the country collected over 9 million dollars in cash and food items, with Texas coming in first with over 4 million dollars in donations.
This year's event kicks off at Travis High School on Thursday, January 17th and goes through Super Bowl Sunday on February, 3rd. Anyone wishing to make a contribution can visit any HEB or Randall's location to drop of their donation or purchase pre-packaged bags. Monetary donations are also accepted online at www.souperbowl.org/donate . All proceeds will go towards the Souper Bowl of Caring.
