KXAN Austin News launches new Web site

AUSTIN (KXAN) - KXAN Austin News, an NBC affiliate, announced Tuesday the launch of its new local television station Web site: www.kxan.com. Austin's new community-focused Web site has enhanced features, improved design and functionality, is highly sociable and populated with the latest local news and information.

KXAN Austin News has partnered with FOX Interactive Media's cutting-edge technology platform to deliver the best possible interactive experience to users. FIM is delivering both back-end and front-end publishing services to KXAN's parent company, LIN TV's, growing suite of web properties, including content management, video, contextual search and social networking. KXAN customized the interactive features on its local Web sites and unveiled key Web site features, including a new video player that is user-friendly and engaging, new weather features, "Map This" programming, new social networking tools, customized news delivery and user engagement tools.

The site launch comes on the heels of www.kxan.com receiving recognition in the Austin Chronicle's "Best of Austin 2008" reader's poll as the "Best Local News Web Site."
