AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Pecan Street Festival kicks off its fall fair Saturday.
It’s the largest free art festival in Central Texas, attracting more than 300,000 people every fall and spring.
Local musicians, artisans and food vendors will gather for the 30th year along Austin’s Sixth Street providing entertainment and selling anything from turkey legs to cowboy hats.
The festival will stretch from Brazos Street to Interstate Highway 35.
Streets will be closed starting at 2 a.m. on Saturday and reopen at midnight on Monday.
Festival-goers can expect to see nearly 50 bands throughout the weekend and enjoy food from more than 20 food vendors.
KXAN will be there Saturday, handing out XtheTXT thumb-bands from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A portion of the festival's proceeds will go to local nonprofit organizations, according to the festival's website. Festival-goers can also make cash donations to the Red Cross' Bastrop wildfire relief fund.
