AUSTIN (KXAN) - The 100 Club of Central Texas will honor the three Austin police officers who were the first to respond to the plane crash into the Echelon Building on Feb. 18, 2010.
The team will be recognized at the club's 28th annual awards gala Friday night for the life-saving efforts they performed in the line of duty.
In addition, the top award of the night will be presented to the yet-unnamed First Reponder of the Year. Attorney General Greg Abbott will present the award.
In all, four first responder teams will be given awards, along with one to the person named outstanding first responder administrative technician. Someone will also be given a lifetime achievement award.
The 100 Club , organized in 1983, offers financial and emotional support to the family of any Austin-area first responder who falls or is critically injured in the line of duty. The 100 Club covers law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMS personnel in Travis, Hays, Caldwell, Bastrop and Williamson counties.
The awards gala will be at the Austin Hyatt on Lady Bird Lake, 208 Barton Springs Road.
