AUSTIN (KXAN) - Pediatrician Daniel Howard wants parents to be sure the toys they buy are age appropriate this holiday season.

Howard, who joined anchor Brian Sanders in studio on Saturday morning, demonstrated how many toy parts are hazardous because they are too small and easy to swallow.

Howard demonstrated a number of toys, noting that packaging may say a certain age. Parents need to choose age-appropriate toys, use toys in appropriate areas and use safety gear where applicable.

Howard works at Austin Diagnostic Clinic. For additional safety information on toy safety and toy recalls, go to the Consumer Product Safety Council website.
