AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin nonprofits will come together for the first Cause We Care Fair at Highland Mall on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The fair's organizers want to connect the public in an interactive way with nonprofits that support the Austin community.

The fair will have hands-on activities for all ages by more than 15 participating organizations.

“Nonprofits are a vital part of the Austin community that help build and strengthen out community,” said Bianca Xoyamayagua, Highland Mall marketing manager.

“We are pleased to support the diverse nonprofit community and we invite attendees to come see how they can make a difference from the nonprofits that care for our community,” she added.

Some of the participating organizations and their activities are:

  • Latinitas- design your own smartphone app.
  • Safeplace- wheel of questions.
  • Crowe’s Nest Farm- special program on Texas raptors.
  • Dance International- Latin and ballroom dance demos and lessons.
  • Girls Incorporated of Greater Austin- media literacy and self-esteem activities.
  • Foster Angels of Central Texas- face and nail painting.
  • Goodwill Industries of Central Texas- job related services training.
  • Any Baby Can- tummy time play activities for infants and interactive games for children form preschool to school age.
  • Sammy’s House- parent and child arts and crafts.
  • Casa of Travis County- fishing booth for kids.
  • Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary- animal video presentation.
  • El Buen Samaritan Episcopal Mission- nutritional trivia.
  • Modern Woodmen of America- free child ID kits and iPod drawing.
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas- learning about nutrition.

The fair will work with the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas and attendees are encouraged to bring two non-perishable food items to support the food bank.

Prizes from Highland Mall retailers will be raffled off for the food contributors at the fair.

The restaurant owners of Sauced-Austin in the Highland Mall food court will also donate 20 percent of their pre-tax sales during this event to the food bank.

The fair is an opportunity to connect and discover ways to make a difference with nonprofit resources.
