AUSTIN (KXAN) - A century of leadership, fun and friendship -- the Girl Scouts is celebrating its 100 year birthday.

To mark the occasion in Texas, more than 2,000 girl scouts joined up at the State Capitol on Monday.

Austin State Rep. Mark Strama read a proclamation before those gathered outdoors

That was followed by a record-breaking Girl Scout Friendship Circle -- that's where the girls hold hands and form a large circle.
