AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Great Moments in Parenting blog is an interactive awards finalist at SXSW this year.

All finalists in the competition had to be launched or completely redesigned in 2012. Great Moments in Parenting was recognized in the Personal category.

Blogger Virginia Woodruff, who is a mom to three children, wanted to create a place where moms and dads "could commiserate about how crazy it can be to be a parent. Sometimes at the end of the day it helps to laugh about a hard moment over a glass of wine; this is my virtual parenting happy hour."

Woodruff, who subtitles her blog "The agony and ecstasy of life with kids," invites parents to submit quite notes on funny incidents, longer essays on parenting issues and everyday parenting photos.

"Once you realize everyone is struggling to keep their head above water, you worry less about comparisons and perfection," Woodruff wrote on her blog website. "This site is about finding humor and camaraderie in the chaos of everyday life with kids."
