AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austinites will soon share the sidewalks with some colorful farm animals.

In about two weeks, nearly 100 fiberglass cows painted by local artists will line the streets as a part of CowParade, the largest public art event in the world.

CowParade Austin hopes to raise money for the Superhero Kids Fund at Dell Children's by auctioning off a number of cows in October. The fund goes towards helping children and their families who are battling cancer and blood disorders.

"Well it's just great to know that all the hard work goes to the kids, who really need, and the parents who are at home taking care of them," said Austin artist Allison Gregory.

CowParade has raised more than $25 million for children's charities worldwide, to date.
