Boot camp to battle breast cancer

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin Simply Fit is organizing a program that will benefit local and national charitable organizations.

The private personal training facility will now be hosting weekly boot camp group training sessions with all of the proceeds benefiting non-profit organizations. This month, all the proceeds are going to the Susan G. Komen for the cure foundation.

Austin Simply Fit has two locations:  5134 Burnet Road and 1621 S. Lamar bvd. The first class will be on Oct. 6, and will combine the intensity of strength training along with cardiovascular workouts. October is Breast cancer Awareness Month.

Each class will have a combination of power lifting,resistance training,yoga,boxing, and track running.

“The Austin Simply Fit family decided it was time to make a more impactful difference in our community,” said Austin Simply Fit President and Personal Trainer Mark Rogers. “We are humbled by the invaluable work of the many charitable organizations throughout Austin and the rest of the country and we want to be a part of it”

According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, by the end of 2012 there will be about 39,510 deaths directly linked to breast cancer. There will also be 226,850 new cases this year as well. Susan G. Komen is the world's largest network of breast cancer survivors and activists, since it's launch the organization has invested more than $1.9 billion to fight breast cancer.
