The Mighty Texas Dog Walk raises funds for Texas Hearing and Service Dogs to help turn strays into stars and give rescue dogs a new leash on life. On Saturday, March 23 Auditorium Shores will be the place for dogs and owners to take a stroll around Lady Bird Lake, break world records, play games, and much more!
Texas Hearing and Service Dogs , celebrating its 25th anniversary, is a non-profit organization that trains dogs to assist people with disabilities. THSD adopts all their dogs from animal shelters and rescue groups. Hearing dogs are trained to alert their deaf owners by touch and leading them to everyday sounds, while service dogs assist people with physical disabilities. Using positive reinforcement, dogs are trained, paired with their new partners and trained as teams - all free of charge to the recipients.
Registration is now open and the fun kicks off at 10am with exhibits opening at 9am. KXAN's own Jim Spencer will serve as emcee for this year's event!
